At the start of each sprint, we use capacity planning to visualize workload distribution across our team. Our sprint planning board shows exactly how many hours each team member has available versus committed, ensuring everyone has a balanced workload. This visibility allows us to proactively redistribute tasks when needed, so deadlines stay on track and quality never suffers. We can see exactly which tasks are assigned, who’s working on what, and how each sprint contributes to overall project goals.
What makes this approach effective?
The burndown chart is at the heart of our sprint effectiveness. This simple visual shows the total work remaining versus time, creating a clear trend line that tells us immediately if we’re on pace to complete the sprint successfully. When the burndown line tracks steadily downward, we know everything is progressing as planned. If it flattens or rises, we spot potential issues early and adjust before they become problems. This real-time insight gives our team confidence that commitments will be met, and if adjustments are needed, we make them proactively.
